Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal data I collect, why I collect it, and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, email me and I'll answer plainly.

What I collect, and why

When you contact me. Your name, email address and whatever you put in the message. I use it to reply to you and, if we end up working together, to manage that engagement. Legal basis: legitimate interest in responding to enquiries, and performance of a contract once one exists.

When you join Your Edge or download something. Your name and email address. I use these to give you access and to send you material related to what you signed up for. Legal basis: consent, and performance of a contract for the membership itself.

When you buy something. Your name, email address, billing details and purchase history. Payment card details are handled by my payment processor and never reach me. Legal basis: performance of a contract, and legal obligation for tax and accounting records.

When you take part in a training program. Any responses you give in surveys or assessments. Where results are shared with the organisation that hired me, they are aggregated and anonymized unless you have agreed otherwise. Legal basis: legitimate interest in measuring and improving the work.

When you use the site. Standard analytics data such as pages viewed, approximate location, browser and device. Legal basis: consent, where required.

Who else processes it

I use a small number of service providers who process data on my behalf under contract:

• Kajabi, for this website, the Your Edge membership, courses, email and payment processing
• Calendly, for scheduling calls, which means your name, email address and anything you add when booking
• Microsoft Teams, for video calls and meetings

All of these are based in the United States. Transfers of personal data outside the European Economic Area are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent safeguard.

My business bank is a separate controller in its own right rather than a processor acting for me, so it isn't listed here.

Recordings. I don't record by default. Occasionally a client asks for a session to be recorded so people who couldn't attend can watch it later. When that happens, everyone in the session is told before it starts, the recording is shared only with the organization that commissioned it, and I delete my own copy once it's been handed over.

How long I keep it

• Enquiries: up to two years after our last contact.
• Mailing list and membership: until you unsubscribe or ask me to delete your account.
• Financial records: seven years, as Dutch tax law requires.
• Program survey responses: kept in identifiable form only while the program is running, and anonymized once it ends.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask me to:

• show you what data I hold about you
• correct anything that's wrong
• delete it
• restrict how I use it
• send it to you or someone else in a portable format
• stop processing it where I'm relying on legitimate interest
• withdraw consent at any time, where consent is the basis

Email [email protected] and I'll respond within a month. There's no charge.

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data, you can complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Cookies

This site uses cookies that are necessary for it to work, and basic analytics cookies set by Kajabi so I can see which pages people read. I don't use advertising or tracking cookies. You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings.

Security

I take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, and I keep the amount I hold to what I actually need.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes materially, I'll update the date at the top and, where it affects you meaningfully, tell you by email.
